The purpose of using potassium ions in drilling fluid is to stabilize shale and suppress expansive clay. Therefore, it is necessary to accurately determine the content of potassium ions in order to control the performance of drilling fluids. Model HSHD-1602 Hand Operated Centrifuge is used to determine the potassium ion content of drilling fluid filtrate when the potassium ion concentration is higher than 5000mg/1 or the KCl concentration is higher than 3.5lb/bbl. After precipitating potassium ions with perchlorate in a centrifuge tube, measure the volume of the precipitate and read the potassium ion content from the standard curve.
